M.E.N.T.E.’s goal is to provide Puesta del Sol students with the opportunity to experience science, technology, and math in real-life settings using Lego Mindstorms technology, while learning critical thinking skills in cooperative learning groups. The majority of M.E.N.T.E. experiences will be in Spanish, enabling students to apply their Spanish language skills in real-life contexts.
PdS Robotics continues to field a competitive robotics team through First Lego League. This year’s team, Los Nanobots, Team 921, is off to a great start building the Food Factor Lego Missions, discussing project ideas, and building and programming practice robots. Last year, Puesta del Sol's first ever FLL Robotics Club had a stellar performance at the Bellevue Regional! Team 2682 -“Los Brainstorms”- entered their robot, Mass Destruction II, and research project to contend with 24 other area teams in a regional event for 9 through 14 year old students. "Mass Destruction II" completed enough missions in the allotted 2 minutes and 30 seconds to tie for 10th place in that phase of the competition. The team gave an impressive presentation of their research project, "An Improved Treatment Solution for Obstructive Sleep Apnea.”. Team 2682 was also awarded “The Judges’ Award” due to their gracious professionalism and uniqueness.
